1. In March and April of 2012, two friends set out on a journey of over 14,000 miles that would alter their lives forever. The goal of this endeavor was simple: to share original, personal stories of a small community at the bottom of the globe from an inside perspective, but what they ultimately unfurled was far greater then they could have imagined. This is an unguarded look at the Falkland Islands, and the people who call it home.

This is the Falklands, the heart races. Survey the horizons and take a breath. There is a stirring in the sea, redemption in the hills. Relentless winds leave a salted taste of complexity that is at times indescribable, undefinable and yet utterly exhilarating. Moments of stillness will come. Like that peaceful moment when the springboard suddenly pushes back. It feels good and you dive in.

This is the last of eight videos in this series that capture the uniqueness, the quirkiness and the complexity surrounding the islands, while ultimately providing more intimate insight into the Falklands as a whole. Welcome. Click. Explore. Enjoy.

  2. Community n. - a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common.

Above the rocks and beneath the kelp, there exists a feeling of fellowship with others. A unique and beautiful land, built upon the will of 9 generations from all walks of life over more then 200 years. A result of sharing common attitudes, common interests, common goals. Here we are: this unified body of individuals, this community of 51º South.
