David Warrior of The Agency wanted to create an extraordinary ad for an extraordinary bike for Yamaha.
Shot over 3 days including nights in JKT and surrounds involving stunts which were rehearsed and performed by the Popeye group.
Directed by FT and produced by me, assisted by Linda Effendy and Adi Purnomo.
DOP was Chong from KL.
Dicky was the Art Director and Patih assisted with the rigging and design of the stunts.
online by Adi, Sunny Side Up Post Production, Jakarta.
The music was inspired by a Dub-Step track which Pandi (Blu Post) used in the original pitch's stealomatic. Zane from Bumble Bee scored this piece for the final ad.
Shot on location in Pengalengan, Bandung, West Java, all the outbound obstacles were constructed in consultation with the Popeye stunt riders by Sukri, the Art Director. Director Keir McFarlane, DOP Kipling Baker, DOP, Line Producer Erika, and the 1st AD Steven Purba had to make numerous trips of between 4 to 5 hours each during prep for recce and rehearsals. The bridge across the stream was also constructed specially for the stunts. The original shoot of 3 days stretched to 4 due to rain stoppages. The rain also made the bridge and surrounding area slippery and dangerous for the stunts. Even the walk from the car park to the set was extremely slippery.
I produced this with the help of Joice Tifaona and "Icha" AIsha Balinda.
Director-DOP: Damon Escott.
1st AD: Steven Facius. Art Director: Patih.
Offline by Damon himself. Online by Chris Chiu, graphics by Sharon Wong both of The Cut Shop, JKT.
Music by Zane of Bumble Bee Studios JKT.
A Square Box Cinetech Production by Joe Seow. Concept by Dentsu Indonesia (CD Agus Arbana, Snr Art Monda), directed by Keir McFarlane. DOP Philip Rang. Shot on Red Epic on location in Indonesia. Offline edited by Adam Hussey, post finishing at Blu Post Asia, Jakarta. CG cars done by Epix Studios Jakarta.
Copyright to the song and it's original recording "Party RockAnthem" by LMFAO held by Fujimusic Asia and Universal Music.
June 2012. Produced with the help of a great team. Adi Purnomo assisted me in producing this otherwise very difficult shoot in a non air-conditioned warehouse in Jakarta. Steven Facius assisted Monda of Dentsu Indonesia in direction. With Ben Jasper as DOP and Adam Howarth as on-set effects and rigs supervisor made this a truly pleasant experience for the whole crew. The folks at Blu Post Asia - Mervyn, Cynthia etc. - were accommodating and offerred plenty of valuable input. Obviously this result wouldn't have been possible without a hot offline edit by Eric Chooi and some ass-kicking sound design by Goh Boon Hoe of Bumble Bee. The Slovenian team from Kopterworx who flew in with their octocopters were inspiring despite the unusually long hours. Of course, all this would not have been possible without the support of Eka Satria, the Account Director at Dentsu and our clients Evelyn Gunawan & Anton Jimmy at Toyota Indonesia. I can't name everyone on the team and forgive me if I'd inadvertently left out any names.
