In Havana i spent some time in callejon de hampel, talking to some of musicians there and learning about Cuban music - I was planning to return on Sunday when they have live performances but didnt make so only have an interview but without the matching live music.

The Bronx Music Heritage Center & The Pregones Theatre hosted Bronx Living Legend Eugene “Gene” Golden on October 5, 2011 for an evening of music and celebration. Mr. Golden has played a key role in the evolution of NYC’s Latin music scene for the past four decades. He has mastered Afro-Cuban and Yoruba musical traditions and has created a fusion of these and many popular drumming styles. As a key member of several local music groups and teacher of a weekly drumming class for 4-8 year olds, Gene is dedicated to passing on these musical traditions.
