    The audience pixels consisted of 70,500 seperate paddles, each containing 9 high powered led lights, fixed to the stadium seats. The giant audience screen allowed the narrative to expand out from the field of play into the audience making them feel part of the show.

    Working closely with the ceremonies creative teams and overseeing two separate groups of animators, 2D and 3D, visual FX specialists, pre-visualisers, programmers and all-round talented people. Kate designed, directed and helped deliver well over 100 individual pieces of content for both ceremonies.

    Content was also created for the projection screens for Freddie Mercury and the Spice Girls 'Taxis' for the closing ceremony.

    Role – Design Director

    'adidas lab' is the first in a series of innovation events showcasing the brands future products and celebrating their continued commitment to pushing the boundaries in performance technologies. This first event focused on innovation in football and took place over the UEFA Champions League Final weekend.

    Kate joined the team at Kin as Design Director, overseeing the look and feel of all the content for two of the largest interactive activations at the event. The first, 'The Track', was a ground-breaking real-time data visualisation experience that tests footballing attributes on a 15m Astroturf track, by measuring speed, work rate and skill across three running challenges. Each consumer armed with an RFID tag would touch in, and their movement and statistics displayed on the screen as they undertook each of the three stages. The competitors final position was displayed immediately on a giant leader board along with a movie of their performance which was also shared on YouTube.

    The second, 'The Smart Ball Wall', gave participants a chance to test the new adidas Smart Ball, designed to improve technique, power, spin and accuracy through an automated coaching system, feeding information back to the player through an app on their smart phone. Each player had the chance of three shots against the giant interactive wall which projected their impact and results.

    One of a number of films created for MTV’s European Music Awards held in Munich. The graphics were played out across multiple screens which formed the backdrop and stage, with the bold graphic visuals forming an immersive animated set.

    A pivotal piece for Kate, the brave minimal aesthetic struck a note with both the band and future clients.

    These giant and colourful Pop Art visuals played out on the largest HD LED screens in the world at that time. The show-stopping backdrops needing to compliment the incredible on stage sets of old Vegas signs and giant humorous and innuendo evoking inflatables.

    The work was commissioned after world famous Photographer and show Director David LaChapelle saw Kate’s ‘Are You Ready For Love’ music video for Elton. She personally designed and directed a number of films for the show as well as overseeing further creative content.

    The brief for this music video was to take an existing video, a straight edit of archive footage and turn it into something exciting for the popular re-release of this 70s track.

    Kate’s approach was to remove unwanted background elements from the footage and inject colour combined with Pop Art graphics to create something fresh. When David LaChapelle was shown the video he decided to commission this visual approach for several films for Elton John’s Red Piano show in Las Vegas, which he art directed.

    The track went to number one and excerpts from the video were shown on Elton John week as part of the 2009 series of X Factor.

I am an award winning Director with vast experience delivering distinct design driven content for activations such as brand campaigns and digital films to large events and interactive experiences. With a background in design my work is heavily rooted in the craft, applying logic to the problem and passion to the solution.

A career of innovative and often ground breaking projects has given me unrivalled experience in working for some of the largest global brands. These include high profile work for the giant 360˚ ‘Audience pixels’ for the London 2012 Olympic Opening and Closing Ceremonies, Adidas, Ford, BBC, GSK, Elton John and MTV European Music Awards.

The scale may vary from the world’s largest screen to a handheld device, but my understanding and enjoyment of the necessary processes cover any challenge, taking each project from concept to delivery with meticulous attention to detail.
