In this short tutorial, I go over creating a new material, how the material manager can be set up to accommodate your preferences, how to use the basic functions of the color channel, and how to assign materials to objects.

In this tutorial, I talk about the texture drop-down in the color channel, I cover the "color" "fresnel" and "gradient" options' basics, and play around a bit with the turbulence in the gradient pane.
UPDATE: Apologies for the confusion about octaves, they deal with how well defined and detailed the curves of the turbulent lines are (and the scale of the tangents it produces).
The next tutorial will be entirely about the noise options (there's a lot to cover as it's extremely versatile and I use it all the time), stay tuned!
