This week's featured pattern is the CDC Midge Cripple -- a versatile 'high vis' winter pattern for the Owyhee, South Fork of the Boise and the Big Wood.
We tie (and fish) these religiously from November on through late March -- perfect on slow foam lines, current seams and deeper flats where the big heads lurk.
To tie, you'll need the following materials:
Hook: Daiichi 1130 or TMC 2487 (size 18 to 26)
Thread: Black 8/0
Tail: Pearl Krystal Flash
Abdomen: Small to Medium Mylar Tinsel
Thorax: Black Ultra-Fine Dry Fly Dubbing
Wing: White CDC
Hackle: Grizzly or Light Dun Saddle
