This film was one of the term one productions. The script was developed through workshops by the Director Emilija and her production team with the support of guest industry lecturers.
The film was shot over two days on a DSLR at both Brighton Film School and on location in a local bar. The Gate was recently screened at The Space event at The Basement and industry networking and Q&A event with guest speakers, at this event it was attended by Terry Rawlings editor of Bladerunner, Aliens and numerous other feature films.
American playwright Walter Wykes' monologue 'The Unwanted' was selected as a workshop piece for Brighton Film School students to shoot on location with a full crew in a church.
Local actor Steve Harris was engaged to perform the script with HODS (Heads of Department) Lydia Currie (AD), Julian Kerridge (Directing), Ray Moore (Camera), Roger Johnson (Sound) and Ewan Cassidy (Lighting) to support the students.
A full Super 16mm shooting kit with HMI lights, track and dolly were transported to the location with Lydia running a walkie-talkie radio workshop to give the students a real life experience
of working on a professional film set.
