  2. The most amazing thing about this experience, aside from finally working with the great Robbie Williams, is you put Robbie Williams in angel wings with a halo over his head and people on the internet still wonder what he's supposed to be.

I've been DP'ing a lot lately including this one (shot on Red Epic).

London's Spitalfield's market is a tough place to shoot. You can't place dollies on the side walk. YOU try shooting a video with Robbie Williams and hundreds of horny, screaming English women in your ear all day long.

Had to do a pick up a week later of guy looking at girl getting hit by car, then pov of her texting. A London 2nd unit crew shot it with me supervising live from my Tokyo hotel room through the internet. Actually composed shots super specifically by drawing on video captures and emailing it to my producer's phone. If I could get clients to agree to this methodology, I could do five times more work every month haha.

The sequence of Robbie laying on the floor was done in the courtyard of an Islamic neighborhood. They weren't happy with us there and on the last shot - no joke - they sent over a bunch of thugs to beat us up to get us out. As soon as we were done, we hurried him into a car to safety.

The same neighborhood I shot the final motion control spin shot but we didn't factor in prayers, so I ended up having less time than I wanted. It was really tricky getting the timing of the moco rig down as all the actors had to time themselves to the music and position of the camera over multiple passes. They choreographed off me shouting live directions. I'd let the camera spin and then time out in my head when to cue a man on fire walking, or a car hit, etc. Ghetto, but it worked.

I wanted Robbie to kick a dog in that shot but he's a dog lover. Every man has his limits.
