While out filming a ribbon cutting for a new school built by malirisingfoundation.org, we were treated to an impromptu motorcycle rally put on by the youth from the village of Touban. What struck us most was not the novelty of the situation we found ourselves, but the similarities we recognized in this positive display of youth culture.
Just like back in America, there were young men trying to impress young women, young women pretending to be unimpressed by their efforts; and lots and lots of style.
Throw in a music track from Mylmo, one of Mali's politically-driven up and coming rappers, and you can see, cultures may vary in their struggles, but humans are human wherever you go.
Special thanks to Yeah Samake of samake2012.com for providing us with this opportunity.
Song is used with permission by Mylmo and is called "Diarabi Nene"

On October 28th, 2013, a gigantic swell hit the west coast of Portugal.
In a small fishing village called Nazaré, a place known for a special feature in the ocean bed, known as the North Canyon, waves were as big as 20 meters (about 60 feet) high. A very special group of big wave surfers from all around the world, came to this spot to ride these gigantic and powerful waves.
Apart from an accident with the Brazilian big wave surfer girl Maya Gabeira, which almost costed her life, all the surfers returned safe to the fishing harbor, and the surfing session is going to the surfing history books.
All the crew was led by the Hawaiian Garrett McNamara, known world wide for big wave riding.

Three brothers explore the Bear Island for waves. They live in a tent, and carry all their stuff on sledges.
Does the island have surfable waves? Will there be a polar bear nearby? How much fun can you have on a small island?
The Wegge brothers are known for their playful living, and finally they set of some time to do their biggest project so far....
