Community Action Council Lexington, KY presented by kNOwMORE [HD]

A kNOwMORE FUN segment.
In 1964 the Community Action Council Lexington, KY was created by Lyndon Johnson based on the war on poverty. They created it with a vision to provide equality through all walks of people’s lives. Everyone should have the opportunity for housing, sustainable employment, and the equality of life that many others enjoy. Recently CAC hosted their seventh annual Lex End Poverty at the Lyric Theater and Cultural Arts Center to get the community to involved in a conversation about poverty. Topics included: building livable communities and encouraging the community to help those that want to help themselves get out of poverty. The Community Action Council is here to help the community get involved to prevent, reduce, and eliminate poverty. For 50 years they have been helping to end poverty with the communities investment.

MISSION: In order to motivate people to find their passion for helping, kNowMore Nonprofits provides current, informative and educational overviews of impactful nonprofits located throughout Kentucky, recognizing that without these nonprofits the health and stability of our communities would be at risk.

OBJECTIVE: This educational series will further awareness about the work being accomplished by non-profit agencies across all nonprofit sectors throughout the state of Kentucky. A citizen should be able to name (at least) 5 local nonprofit agencies in their community and know what they do. KNOW MORE. With funding we will be able to travel across the state (from Pikeville to Paducah) and cover stories on various nonprofit agencies. 24 on-location stories and 24 studio interviews will be produced over 12 episodes that specifically address a nonprofit’s community impact. CALL TO ACTION: Start a conversation, get involved, volunteer, donate, spread the word or get help from your local non- profit agencies.
