1. This was shot in my backyard yesterday(11/12/13) the same day as the firmware was released that allows the BMPC to shoot RAW. Color correction is not one of my strong points let alone using Resolve, but I am learning :) - Until this point, I have never used RAW files and had never really used Davinci Resolve(I did watch several tutorials) So it has been learning curve in the past 24hrs - This was an exercise in the workflow and using Davinci Resolve. It was tedious at first but once you catch on - It is quite feasable to use on regular basis. Shot in film mode with the olympus 17/2.8……

  4. First footage I took on my BMPCC as soon as I updated the firmware. My first time working with raw footage, I didn't do much with the grade except boost some saturation.

ISO 200 - BMPCC - Voigtlander 25mm - The 64gb 95mb/s sd card was the only card I could get the raw to work on. Two other 45mb/s cards, 64gb and 128gb would not let me record. Not surprised...

I could barely see what I was doing, could not see the buttons on the camera!

From my Deck: I could not see blue in the sky or any details in the lights.. very dim haze
The RAW DNG's have grain in them, so you cannot push too far.. but with Adobe Camera RAW tweaking directly in AE CC, you can pull out details you did not know were there!

    IN the street:
Some very cool fog rolled in.. again.. no light other than the street light. I could not see that stop sign across the street. Grain structure is ok in the upper midtones.. a little ugly in the shadows..but very cool that you can shoot at night! Reminds me of 80's movies!

    Doggy THrough The WIndow:
Entire scene lit with a 75 watt tungsten bulb 35 feet away. Red tile floor looked grey to me.. I could not see the camera.. pushing buttons in the dark! I also could not see the floor at the window... too dark!

Shoot RAW - copy DNG's off the chip
Load into AE.. use Camera RAW settings to tweak at import... stay away from noise reduction here It does not work temporally.
Write out a 10bit Canopus HQX file for editing in Edius. Could also write DnXHD file 220Mbit 10-bit.
Takes forever to write.. read from one SSD, write to another.
(Until I can figure out how to get DaVinci Resolve to read Adobe Camera RAW tweaks (I like Camera RAW settings way better than Resolve).. then writing the file takes forever. DaVinci Resolve writes DNG's in seconds! But I cannot figure out what LUT's , color spaces, etc in order to have the kind of control & results that I am getting in Adobe Camera RAW.
