Born and brought up in Scotland, Guy went south to study film at the Universities of Kent and Amsterdam for his BA in Film Theory. After a year travelling the world and writing TV adverts in Thailand, he returned to the UK to do an MA in Film Production at Bristol University. While there he directed the Royal Television Society Award-winning drama "FLOOD” and was shortlisted for BBC New Film Makers and New Director schemes as a result.
Guy has always had a desire to work in more than one genre and resisted being pigeon-holed. In television he worked in China documenting the travelling carnival that is the Miss World competition, and in the Middle East for Al Jazeera English. He shot music videos, worked as DOP and 2nd Unit director on a documentary about the Halloween movies, (released in the USA, UK, and Australia through Anchor Bay).
Guy has also directed a feature documentary on the slam poetry scene in the USA (in post-production).
During all this, Guy entered the world of advertising. Starting out writing and directing virals he was quickly picked up for representation. So far he has directed commercials for agencies, including, Mother, Ogilvy, Grey, and JWT(N.Y) for brands such as Cadbury’s, Pimm’s, MTV, SEGA and others for UK, USA and Global broadcast. His commercials have been featured in Creative Review, Shots, and Campaign, and nominated for awards in Cannes and the One Show Awards. Online Guy has worked with big name brands such as Nike, Sony and Coca-Cola.
Guy has continued to write and direct shorts throughout. 'A Performance', his most recent short, is currently doing the international film festival circuit.
