Wanted to have Him grabbing onto my face as i flailed around, but the dificulty of masking out hands and matching random head flails prooved too difficult. Ultmatly I had t cut it, for the sake of render time.
The inspiration for my film plot can best be summed up as the results of watching Army of Darkness and The Ring whilst recovering from a mild concussion. Well actually it was a little deeper than that. After the aforementioned horror marathon, I started thinking about the inevitability of death and the lengths to which people go to escape it, even when such efforts ultimately prove futile.
In most historical interpretations, the grim reaper only appears to those who have died to guide their soul to the afterlife and does not play a direct role in their death. To this end I decided to make death more manipulative than outright threatening. Using the Victims fear to guide him to his untimely end.
To add an extra layer of otherworldliness to the character of death, I used two clips layered over one another, one background, one with the character. The charter clips were then inverted, changed to black and white and shredded to create a flickering teleportation effect, which is used to illustrate deaths inescapable nature.
The music for my film I chose for two reasons. First it’s rapid beat that matched the fast paced nature of the films editing and second its philosophical undertones that help emphasize the films main theme, the inevitability of death.
