IT Toolbox lecture 2 is about Google, how it works and how it marked a significant improvement on the "relevance" based search engines that proceeded it.
This is not the original recording of the lecture but a replacement as the sound quality on the original was not satisfactory. Please raise questions or add comments on http://www.jonathanbriggs.com
Jonathan Briggs gives the first lecture for this year's Toolbox module (for undergraduates) at Kingston University in SW London.
Publishing lectures as video is a new venture for this module and I would welcome feedback and comments. Over the next few weeks I will get better at it.
Following the first lecture I spent some time discussing the module and how it is assessed. I have used a different format for this video (and hopefully fixed the single channel sound issue).
Another video, another course. This semester I will be teaching ecommerce to final year students at Kingston.
This lecture describes the Shopify hosted ecommerce platform and uses a site called Market Quarter to illustrate the potential that can be achieved.
Students are encouraged to try out Shopify to experience how quickly a store can be created. But that is only the beginning...

Heads up: the shoutbox will be retiring soon. It’s tired of working, and can’t wait to relax. You can still send a message to the channel owner, though!
