"The Light Meter" shows the making of a little alla prima oil painting, 5" x 7", oil on panel. It was the first time I filmed myself painting, and trying to juggle the camera, tripod, paint and brushes definitely didn't make painting -- or filming for that matter -- any easier.
I guess this movie is about the intersection of painting and photography and in the making of images in general. The principles of color, value, edges, focus and composition are the same. It's movie of painting of a photography tool.
Now that I think of it, maybe it would have been easier to make a painting of a photo of some brushes.
The Light Meter was painted, filmed and edited by Evan Simeone on November 23, 2013 in Brooklyn, NY. It was shot on a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera.
