  3. Attempted to do the entire monkey bar run with a ruck loaded with 45lbs of lead weights (GORUCK Selection requirement). Ruck weighed in at 48.8lbs on the scale; I dropped before the ascent - 12' in the air with a 1" crash pad and extra 50lbs on your back is not for everyone... but I'll do it by the end of the year, as we've got 1' thick landing mats coming for the tough section.

  4. The traverse wall is deceptively simple. They're just smooth painted pieces of 2x4, mounted at uneven distances and angles. There's no grip tape, no way to hook your fingers in and nothing to hold on to without using some decent grip strength, coordination, balance and patience. These are a Spartan Race staple - and one we had to have at RISE. As always, things get much more difficult when you throw 50lbs in a ruck and do it GORUCK style. The added weight wants to pull you off, forcing you to stay tight and keep a firmer grip. Good times...
