In July 2013, Frank Dias, winner of the Nissan Juke Built to Thrill competition, went out on the trip of a lifetime to follow in the footsteps of the ill fated journey of Christopher McCandles, the true life subject of Sean Penn's modern cult film classic 'Into the Wild'. In his attempt to escape the commercialisation of modern life, McCandless shunned civilisation by trekking alone into the Alaskan wilderness to live at one with nature, ultimately causing his own demise. Inspired by the tale, Frank set out on the same route into the wilderness taken by Christopher, along the Stampede trail, hoping to get a feeling for what McCandles set out to achieve.
Inspired by the true story of Christopher McCandless, subject of book and film, Into the Wild, Frank jets far away from his ordinary 9 to 5 desk job in London to explore the Alaskan wilderness. Filmed and directed by Mungo, this film takes a unique look at the meaning of adventure and why it motivates us all to explore in the way that we do.
