The idea of the film is to increase the awareness of the heroin + crack cocaine scene in Aberdeen City during Oct 07 to Apr 08. This short film was made for my final BDes(Hons) project in 2008 at Gray's School of Art.
The voices used for this film were captured from the people I interviewed - a local councillor, a police officer, street beggars, a heroin user and a crack cocaine user.
The disjointed drug scenes were re-created by animating stills, and the music was made in Reason 8.
An intimate snapshot of a drug addict at her bottom just prior to recovery. Demonstrating pain and loneliness this disease of addiction and mental illness holding her prisoner. A look inside the loneliness and fear drug addiction causes. The consequences fear and denial it also possesses. This was shot 2 years ago and I am long into recovery and taking it one day at a time.
VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED. ACTUAL DRUG USE AND SELF HARM THROUGHOUT, WITH THE UNDERSTANDING HOW SERIOUS THIS DISEASE IS AND FATAL IF NOT TREATED. http://www.dearaddict.com.
In Recovery, especially early Recovery, our feelings and emotions, many we don’t even remember, seem overwhelming.
Your not going crazy, your going forward. Embrace these feelings and emotions and make a decision to allow yourself those moments. All feelings and emotions will pass. They cannot kill us. In fact, in time, it is this that does make us stronger.
We’re changing, our thinking is sharpening, our bodies are healing, our minds are clearing, our finances are organizing and spirituality we’re starting to trust.
It is Faith, not religion, but Faith that will gift you with more change.
