A classic, modern day, coming-of-age-and-getting-the-girl-and-becoming-a-man tale told as a visual storybook. Inspired by Wes Anderson and growing up and consumerism.
"Man, I promise, I'm so self-conscious
That's why you always see me with at least one of my watches
Rollie's and Pasha's done drove me crazy
I can't even pronounce nothin', pass that Ver-say-see!"
"We'll buy a lot of clothes, but we don't really need 'em
Things we buy to cover up what's inside"
Schools out, and summer is in. Mark's got eyes for the cutest girl in town. He just needs to make himself more appealing in order to ask his crush out on a date. The luxurious Fawkes hat is a sure fire way to get the girl. Mark floats between self-assurance and bravado as he finds out what it means to be a man. Fawkes is a visual storybook depicting a young man's efforts to find confidence.
This is a film I made because I think the message it conveys regarding self confidence and also consumer culture is extremely relevant in our current age.
