1. MERZbau reconstruction at Berkeley Art Museum, July 2011.

Dada/Constructivist artist Kurt Schwitters' legendary Hanover MERZbau, which was built over time in the artist's apartment in Hanover, was destroyed in 1943 during an allied air raid.

The reconstruction was created in 1981-83 by my father, Peter Bissegger, through extensive calculations and research, and with the help of the memories of Kurt Schwitters' son, Ernst.

Information about the long adventure of reconstructing this lost classic of modern art can be found at http://www.merzbaureconstruction.com

My brother Mario and my Nephew Milo are seen in this video installing the piece at BAM, Berkeley in July 2011, along with Berkeley Art Museum staff. All of them, as you can see, are super-fast workers.

    Music:
    - Béla Bartok, Six Rumanian Folk Dances - Roumanian Polka
    - June De Toth, Gnossiennes n.4 by Erik Satie.
