  5. Story behind the video:

I came up for the idea for this video while I was at a cemetery... yes, weird. I immediately called my good friend Serena and asked her to do the voice acting. She agreed. Then I got in touch with Justin from JYAP Films to get some equipment on loan. Score!

I wrote the script and gave Serena a Zoom H4N (thanks Justin!) so she could record in the comfort of her own place. When I got the recorder back what I heard was pure brilliance and I knew, it was on!

Next step was to figure out the music. The concept of the video had always revolved around a dream. I found a really nice piece by Christopher Haigh and was hooked the second I heard it. I was mentally breaking down how everything would come together in my head when I looked at the title of the song and it read "We Meet in Dreams" and so fate pretty much made the decision for me.

I like the song so much that I decided to build the entire video around the music. With my original idea, it wasn't far off. It was actually a spot-on perfect match! I slowed down the tempo a tiny bit, because I wanted to keep the original emotions and intentions of the artist as much as possible.

Now I had the audio track mixed down and perfect, I had to find my actors. One day I was on FB and I saw a picture of my friends Lillian and Lyndon (they are not a couple) but they look so perfect next to each other so I asked them and they said yes, SWEET!

We met up on a Sunday and lo and behold San Francisco was sunny! For those not familiar with The City, this rarely happens. Great for hanging out at the beach, bad bad bad for filming. Thank goodness for ND filters and creative composition!

Believe it or not, we knocked out all the filming in one day! About 6 hours to be exact. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to use all my sun-drenched footage, but I told myself that since I've been working so hard on this project, I would let fate decide the outcome. If it's meant to be, it will be okay. One day, one chance, everything or nothing!

Everything else is history. Much thanks to my buddy Jay who was half assistant, half creative consultant, and half back-up cameraman (wait, what?) Be on the look out for bloopers and behind-the-scenes footage!

This project took 5 weeks and many, many late nights to complete from beginning to end. I hope you enjoy it - Thanks for watching!
