Practical SFX makeup test footage for the short film 'He Took His Skin Off For Me'. The story of a man who takes his skin off for his girlfriend, and why it probably wasn't the best idea...

SFX by the incredible Jen Cardno (Supervisor), Hermes Pittakos and Tom Smith . The test was put together at short notice on a micro budget as a way of experimenting with a new idea for prosthetic design. If this is what we could do in a day imagine what we could do for the real film!

  2. This is an animatronic head that i have built for a 2nd year showreel project at bolton university sfx degree course.
I have built all the mechanisms inside and outside from scratch using raw aluminium ,steel etc. the eye lids and brow are radio controlled ,the lips are on a hand held mechanism that is cable controlled and the neck and jaw are on a separate hand control that is also run via steel cables. the servos in the head need to be replaced for some with a slightly higher torque so the movement is not quite as controlled as i would have liked but this is something I'm going to change and then re upload a better version. The skin is foam latex and is airbrushed using acrylic ink. the undershell is vacformed. I have done all the work on it, original sculpt ,molds etc so its entirely original and hand built.
