  3. This documentary was produced by Ya'axché Conservation Trust and Ajax Films in the Toledo District of southern Belize to highlight the connections between freshwater and marine ecosystems. It was the result of a collaboration between a variety of NGO's and dynamic individuals, particularly LightHawk who provided flights over the watersheds and coastal reefs, Toledo Institute for Development and the Environment (TIDE) for their expertise in watershed management, Rachael Carrie for her innovative work on community based freshwater monitoring, Mauricio Mejia at WWF for his work with commercial plantations and Zenovia and Ignacio Ash for their important work building awareness of the importance of healthy rivers in their community.

    One of the key messages of this film is that what happens upstream affects what happens downstream and it is for this reason that we must learn to take care of our rivers for ourselves and for future generations.

    This film provides a chance to see how a small number of individuals living along Toledo's rivers are trying to make a big difference within their communities providing not just local benefits but benefits for all Belizean's.

    You can see interviews with representatives from inland Mayan communities, coastal creole communities and a variety of conservation organizations who are working together to build awareness of the importance of watershed health.

    This film is being shown throughout Belize on local and national television and particularly to communities and schools in the Toledo district who have no access to electricity or television.
