I was recently in Kalgoorlie Western Australia on my way back from work in community on my way to leave in Sydney. I had never been to Kalgoorlie before and had heard from friends that the Super Pit was a great place to visit, and gauge the immense scale of the mining work in kalgoorlie.
The Super Pit produces up to 850,000 ounces of gold every year and its operation far outweighs any other mining centre in Australia. The Super Pit is the biggest gold open pit mine in the country. The pit is mined 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
I shot this video in two sessions a morning and an afternoon / night over one day. I did not have any sliders or pan and tilt heads and was only allowed to view from behind a tall fence, this made me try some new techniques.
Come with us on a journey to the heart of Senegal’s cotton country. Cotton is the main cash crop for the locals here and a vital source of income. As we drive by, women are hand-picking cotton on small, non-irrigated family plots. Follow along from the capital, Dakar, as we head 650 kilometres to Senegal’s cotton basin, a poor region cut off from the rest of the world. From humble beginnings, many farmers are now Fairtrade certified… and reaping the benefits.
Listen to cotton farmers talk about the concrete benefits Fairtrade has brought to their communities. But also about the challenges they are facing.
