1. Synopsis

The Joe Baccala Story is a mockumentary (inspired by Rob Reiner's Spinal Tap) of a self-proclaiming wise guy “Joe Baccala” who has taken on a mafioso stereotype identity. Everyone thinks he’s a “made guy” including himself. Baccala’s longtime girlfriend Gina Rizzi wants to be a mob wife. However, her authentic Italian mother Sarina Rizzi disapproves of Baccala because he’s a criminal and ever worse… not really Italian. Baccala and his crew plan to steal Dr. Suez’s historical home and sell it on the Ebay. Joe believes that if he pulls off the heist he will move up in rank with the New York Mob and then give Gina a full-blown Italian Wedding. However, the New York Boss Frank Broccolo aka “Dr. Broccoli” sees Baccala’s criminal activities a risk and wants him dead. The mockumentary is narrated by his childhood friend Billy C, Gina Rizzi, and Baccala himself. Using satire and comedy, The Joe Baccala Story addresses pop culture and mass media's stereotypical portrayal of Italian Americans and those who live the stereotype.
