1. The students described what their hands felt like in cold water without protection and then what they felt like when submerged in icy water surrounded with a layer of fat. We discussed the purpose of blubber for marine mammals as well as the specialized fat polar bears have. There are slightly different functions. Watch and learn.

  2. Today in advising, small groups of builders competed to make the tallest tower in the room. Each group got thirty straws and a meter of masking tape. They had five minutes to plan and fifteen minutes to build. We had fun!

  3. While at Polar Bear Point, just outside of Churchill, Manitoba, I saw many polar bears. Some of the most exciting moments were when they were sparring or walking toward us. I put together the video footage in a short project, hoping you would enjoy the experience vicariously.
