#standwithme was inspired by the incredible power of one person to make a difference.
This is our studio's first feature length documentary film. It’s been a whirlwind of an education in all that goes into making and bringing a film to the world. It’s far from easy, it’s certainly not for those that enjoy sleep, and we still have many miles to go.
We made a film that we hoped would really connect with the audience. We flew across the world - Namibia, Nepal, Ghana, and the Dominican Republic - to bring you closer to those in the film that we are standing for. And it’s those real connections with so many of you that reminded us just how much potential there is in a well told story.
Let’s face it, slavery isn’t easy to talk about. What Vivienne did, more than anything, was made it accessible. And in telling her story, we spent great time and care in telling a story that would explore slavery, yet would leave you feeling hopeful, inspired, and empowered.
There are five ideals that guided #standwithme. Five words we used to shape all of our decisions.
One. Light. Community. Subjective. Impact.
When we share this film with you, it’s these five things that we really hope to communicate.
It has been an incredible journey that has brought us face to face with those enslaved, and taught us so much about perspective, gratitude, and the power in our craft.
