'Brazilian Guitar Fuzz Bananas - The Movie' is a documentary film that explores the Psychedelic Brazilian music of the 60's and 70's following the record producer and record dealer Joel Stones as he travels to Brazil in search of the artists that are part of the compilation 'Brazilian Guitar Fuzz Bananas'. Produced by Stones, the record mixes rare, groovy and eccentric Brazilian tracks. It was praised among the music community and music critics. As a road movie, 'Brazilian Guitar Fuzz Bananas - The Movie' paints an ambient, psychedelic landscape. Think of Paris, TX meets Easy rider. The film starts in New York, where Stones runs his record store 'Tropicalia in Furs' and follows him to Rio, Sao Paulo, and Minas Gerais, Brazil searching for the musicians that are featured on the album. Willing to meet his 'heroes' and explore the roots of Brazilian Psychedelia, he re-discovers his own country. After moving to the United States 12 years ago in search of the American dream, Stones began his journey as a shoe shiner at Goldman-Sachs in NY and then opened his store in Manhattan's East Village. His intention is to continually produce music, find those hidden and rare artists, and to share these unknown musical treasures from Brazil with the rest of the world. 'Brazilian Guitar Fuzz Bananas - The Movie' is a diary, a notebook of a fantastic adventure through an unexplored musical world.
'Brazilian Guitar Fuzz Bananas - The Movie' will be filmed in New York, Los Angeles, Brazil (Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Belo Horizonte and the small beach town of Saquarema) and it ends in Turkey (another land where Joel has been searching for music). The East Village is where our story begins, departing to Los Angeles where Stones meets Egon Allapat (Joel's fellow vinyl archaeologist and co-conspirator on the record project) before leaving to Brazil. The compilation 'Brazilian Guitar Fuzz Bananas' will be used as a guide and a map in the southern hemisphere for them to find the musicians that are part of the record, which will connect the dots to tell this great musical kaleidoscope saga. Some of the characters and stories will be re-enacted in different scenarios, combining fiction in surrealistic sketches and animation. Riding through the Brazilian lands, Stones will show us a unique vision of the Brazilian culture, the multi-ethnic aspect of its people, and the ingenious ideas of these creative communities.
