OFFSET Second Room - in association with The Irish Times
Creative Review called him the 'Art Director of the era' and Newsweek has said he 'changed the face of graphic design'. Particularly respected for his typographic work, Carson has also: designed Ray Gun and Surfer magazine; developed branding and advertising campaigns for major corporations, won a small mountain of industry awards; and is a former professional surfer too. Here he asks audience questions about his work in the second room at OFFSET 2012.
David Carson is an American graphic designer. He is best known for his innovative magazine design, and use of experimental typography. He was perhaps the most influential graphic designer of the nineties. In particular, his widely-imitated aesthetic defined the so-called "grunge typography" era. In this conference, in the Mad MMX Carson shows some illustrations and works and explains how does he thinks each work has to be created.
