This is a selection of footage that I shot in Ghana, West Africa, for clients and for my own interest. Most of it was shot over the course of a year on the Canon 5DmkII. You might be interested to know that most of the dancing featured took place at a funeral.
This film was shot in Kenya for the charity Tearfund as part of their Inspired Individuals programme. The film profiles the work of the Tunza Project, founded by Patricia Mwikya, to help young offenders on their release from prison. Credited role: Producer, Director & camera. This is a selection of scenes shot at the funeral of Francis Nii Okai Addy, a 37 year old shop keeper who died in November 2011. His funeral took place at his family home in the poor Jamestown area of Accra, the capital city of Ghana.
Many of the practices seen here are specific to the Ga community of coastal Accra.
