This is the preview for 'rtown,' an extraordinary urban adaptation of Thornton Wilder's American classic 'Our Town,' written and performed by the 40 young writers of the DC Creative Writing Workshop in Southeast Washington, DC. Full-length film coming soon to Vimeo!
The DCCWW (dccww.org) has written ten such adaptations of classic plays over the last ten years, as well as turning out thirty (!) editions of their literary magazine, Hartworks.
This is the first script they have produced as a film instead of a single live performance. Based at Hart Middle School in the Congress Heights neighborhood of Anacostia, the program works with Hart students and gradutates from 6th to 12th grade.
The students adapted the Wilder original to create a contemporary reflection on love, life and death in THEIR town.
PLEASE COMMENT! These extraordinary students deserve all the support, and feedback you can give them on their amazing work of art.
