Our arrangement of the late great Iry LeJeune's "J'ai été au bal" back in 1999 at the Liberty Theater in Eunice, Louisiana. I must have changed the arrangement and presentation of this song about a dozen times since then. As all of our repertoire, we are always trying different things. Fun, Fun, Fun.
This was filmed at The Liberty Theater in Eunice, Louisiana circa 1998. This was our version of the first Cajun recording that took place in 1928. It was recorded by the late Joe Falcon and his wife Cleoma Breaux Falcon. Just acoustic guitar, accordion and vocals back then. He called it "Lafayette" at that time. It is a story about a man that wants to take his fiance to the town of Lafayette where they could obtain a marriage licence back in those days. Now days the song is referred to as "Let's Go To Lafayette" (Allons a Lafayette).
