The Parachute Adams is an excellent fly pattern for begginners and veterans all the same. It is a great standby fly that catches fish on any river. It imitates a mayfly or a midge in its adult (dry) form and when tied in different colors and sizes and mimic everything from a green drake to a pale morning dun. It’s a very versatile pattern to know and have in your arsenal. I tie this in several sizes and colors and use this pattern as a front fly and then trail a more imitative fly behind it to see if the fish are selective or not and then fish accordingly. The techniques used in tying this pattern are critical to tying dry flies successfully. If you want to tie flies well, this is one you need to master.
