Working in the North West of WA we were fortunate enough to be sent home early due to a incoming cyclone on the 29th of December 2012. So, we went from being faced with welcoming in 2013 at work in the red dust to traveling south along the west coast to where the forest meets the sea.
Once we reached Dunsborough we caught up with our mermaid friend Ang. She is a uber cool chick that lives for the ocean and just happens to roll in a classic Valiant, so we took the time to capture in her playground as we headed for a surf.
Gotta love summer time in Australia!

The waxhead links up with fellow Night Riders Custom Club members for the cruise out to 'Mopar Rumble'.
The innugrual event is dedicated to Chrysler, Plymouth and Dodge vehicles. The mighty Valiant is car with clean lines and for the time- it was ahead of the compeition with its low bonnet, tough curves and powerful engine.
We follow Matt and he checks out the scenery and gives his VC Valiant Regal Safari Wagon a lap on the drag strip
Green Safari Wagon was restored and detailed at:

This project is close to my heart as it’s about my parents and Dad’s beloved 1974 Valiant ute (although it's as much about them as it is about the ute). I had a ball shooting this over the Easter break of 2012. Although this film was fairly early in my film making days I had already worked out a few story telling techniques and I think Dad really enjoyed seeing how a little film slowly comes together. The films you make about those closest to you are the most important you'll ever make. It was all shot on a Canon 5dM2 with opening sequence shot late afternoon using a 90mm tilt shift lens with my wife expertly pulling focus. All the footage was shot in Maitland and Port Victoria SA. Thanks for watching, Randy.
Soundtrack “Stars over the Prairie” by Angela Easterling
GEAR: Canon 5dm2, Wally Dolly from Picture Hire Australia, Rode Videomic, Zoom h4n, edited in FCPX
All shot in available light with Canon 24mm 1.4, 50mm 1.2, 85mm 1.2 lenses.
