An homage to Daniel Rozin's "Wooden Mirror" and in part inspired by 8-bit style stop-motion animation using Post-its, this is an analog interpretation of a pixel. A Cinema 4D animation of Post-It notes fluttering in real time (not stop-motion) to reveal low-res but gradated video footage. The rotation property of the cloned notes is driven by the average value of the corresponding square of video footage.
In this 30" commercial abstract:groove teams up with Refrigiwear, an historical insulated clothing brand born back in the 50's in the industrial settings of New York's Meatpacking District.
The primal ispiration came out from automotive design world, in particular the italian collective tried to evoke the most technological and futuristic side of vehicles development aesthetic, navigating between hermetic and nocturnal atmospheres.
Furthermore the abstract:groove creative team searched for an alchemic coexistence between 3D visualization and 2D mechanical (de)signs.
Additional lighting effects were created by filming in studio real lens flares, combined afterwards with CGI elements to give a most analog look to the final image.

From our eyes birth stars, or maybe it's the other way around, and we are starlight, the souls of stars. We should be stellar all the time, stars are what we become, whole universes if we care to try. A billion tiny tongues of flame flickering in the infinite.
Here's a film genesis from the collective unconscious, a fire mythago. Imagery was collected through extreme slow motion fire dance with a phantom camera. The silver dancing of my friend Emerald Dove and the cinematography talents of my friend David Wright helped create this gift. Thank you.
