Since 2002, the Neighborhood Summit has established a tradition of providing information and tools for neighborhood leaders and volunteers to more effectively improve their communities. As Cincinnati enters a new era where neighborhoods are given more opportunity to create their own vision and to implement it, it’s much more important that they have the knowledge and resources to do so.

Community leaders have expressed that growing engagement by residents and driving economic development in their neighborhoods are key to assuring they are healthy, attractive, vibrant.

We’ve assembled a line up of sessions focused on the citizen’s role in development - from nuisance properties to revitalizing neighborhood business districts, public transportation. and using Plan Cincinnati. Since public engagement is critical, we have sessions showing how neighborhood groups can maximize that.

Building on the popularity of the Community Academy last year, we continue with topics that teach nuts and bolts of effectively operating a community council. We’ve enlisted experts and professionals to help participants learn best practices. We’ve designed sessions intended for individuals fairly new to neighborhood activity as well as sessions for those who have more experience.

Finally, there is space for networking and dialog - to share experiences and lessons and to discuss how we as citizens will engage in making Cincinnati the greatest city it can be.
