Earl's Demise is short documentary I made about my father when he was sick with an Alzheimer's like disorder. The film premiered opening night of the Margaret Mead Film Festival in 1989. It went on to play at numerous festivals and won awards at Sinking Creek and The Black Mariah Film Festivals among others.
Earl's Demise was shot in 16mm black and white reversal, primarily with a bolex. It was edited on a flatbed and I hot spliced the camera original myself in order to make a print.
I made it during my time as a film student at SUNY Purchase.
