This footage was shot during the summer of 2011 in the Colorado mountains. The majority of the locations were above timberline, at elevations ranging from 12,000 to over 14,000 feet. Most of the shots were in the San Juan Mountains, but there are several shots from the Collegiate Peaks and Sawatch/Mosquito ranges.
Technical details: Canon 5D MKII, Canon, Leica & Zeiss lenses. The night shots were exposures of 15-30 seconds at ISO 1600-3200. Little Bramper and 3 stop ND filter were used for controlling exposure during dusk and dawn transitions.
All shots are straight from the camera - no CGI or compositing was used in the editing of this footage.
During September and October of 2013 and 2015 I drove from San Francisco back to my birth state of Colorado to experience a bit fall. Growing up there, I was young and not really into photography yet. So it is amazing to go back every year now and see it with a whole new perspective. I did sneak one clip in from summer.
