On November 13th, 1985 Colombia suffered one of its most devastating natural disasters in the city of Armero. As the entire nation watched helplessly the rescue efforts, one courageous soul was faced with the daunting task of holding on to her life as long as she could. For days, the crews tried to save the life of the 13 year old Omayra Sánchez Garzón. Tragically pinned to a wall due to volcanic mudslides, she faced her passing by singing a song.
On November 16th we watched, we cried and we mourned in disbelief. Please forgive us.
We will never forget you Omayra.
Feel your light, time to go...
