Magic Lantern RAW for the win! Since I have started using this technique with my 5D2 my working hours exploded but so did my satisfaction! A 5D3 is getting closer and more projects to be filmed and of cause finished. I am planning on making more workflow tutorials and a selection of downloadable presets for Lightroom (; some more stuff will be happening here the next months so make sure to come back once in a while!
I made this video for one of my favorite clients reelljeans.com - we did an AW14 editorial shooting in December - on a location nobody was willing to give us permission easy so we just went for it. Thanks to the Magic Lantern Team I was able to take superb quality pictures with my 5D2 AND shoot a superb quality video with the same device not stepping over the 10.000€ line for equipment. Between checking the location, jumping over a fence, hiding behind huge piles of trash and actually making the editorial shooting I swapped cards, got my Flycam 3000, a viewfinder and was ready for a run and gun clip!
BUT (yeah, no good news) Magic Lantern with the 5D2 causes horrible moire problems when you get multiple thin lines in the focus of the picture - during my last videos it did not show up so much, but I got some totally not usable shots! Please take care while shooting rooftops, skylines, fences or other symmetrical objects! In the beginning of this video you can still see moire on the right model's jacket.
