Vadim Morozov not only designed and built the sound object he plays in this video, but he also recites an original poem entitled, "A Ghost of Falling Stars." This was filmed at the Center for Contemporary Arts in Rostov-on-Don, Russia.
I developed and produced this film in 1999. Working with Bill Cran, Steven Leibman, and a large team, we took on the task to study propoganda generated by both sides during the Cold War, but mainly focusing on the Soviet propaganda machine.
I developed and produced the RED FILES series together with a large team, including Bill Cran and Steven Leibman.
SECRET VICTORIES OF THE KGB details the dynamics of the twentieth century world propelled by an ideological battle for the hearts and minds of people. Caught in a time no longer ruled by the morality of the church or the sword of kings and devastated by two world wars, two great countries found themselves engaged in a new type of battle. Who would win? It was a secret war fought by secret agents. Both sought the ultimate weapon, both had highly developed weapons' projects, but America had already dropped Oppenheimer's bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. There was only one way to quickly even the odds: the Communists had to have America's latest secrets. The true story of the men and women who stole those secrets has remained the great, untold tale at the end of the millennium. Now that Russia has opened the files, hear the real story, see the real images, learn the other side of the tale.
I wrote and directed this film. It's said to be "a provocative look at love, lust, self-deception and redemption." For me it's a twisted glimpse into central Texas life. Winner of Best Southwest Film at the Santa Fe Film Festival, “World Without Waves“ premiered at the Moscow International Festival. The movie stars Will Foster Stewart (“Training Day” “Sex and the City”) as Louis, an electrically challenged television executive, and Tara Bast ( 'Third Watch'') as Louis' lover, Sarah. Also in the movie are Jeff Kober (''China Beach,'' ''Coyote Moon''), Fort Worth native Stephen Bruton (''The Alamo'') and Brad Leland ("Friday Night Lights", ''Cadillac Ranch,'' ''The Patriot,'' and ''The Stars Fell on Henrietta.''
