Since 1983, the annual Louis I. Kahn Memorial Lecture has been Philadelphia's signature event honoring an individual who has made significant contributions to the field of architecture. The event celebrates these achievements against the backdrop of the storied career of Philadelphia architect, Louis Kahn (1901-1974).
This year's lecture features Peter Q. Bohlin, FAIA. Bohlin is an American architect and the winner of the 2010 Gold Medal of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). His ia a Fellow of the AIA and a founding prinicpal of Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, established originally in 1965 as Bohlin Powell in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Bohlin Cywinski Jackson has five offices in Wilkes-Barre, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Seattle, and San Francisco. In 1994, Bohlin Cywinski Jackson was honored with the Firm Award presented by the AIA.
Bohlin's work has included the iconic glass-cube entrance to the Apple store on Fifth Avenue in New York, Seattle's City Hall, Pixar Animation Studios & Headquarters in California, and the new Liberty Bell Center in Philadelphia. Peter Bohlin has been a guest design critic and a visiting professor at architecture schools. He received his Bachelor of Architecture from Rensselear Polytechnic Institute and his Master of Architecture degree from Cranbrook Academy of Art.

On March 22nd, 2013, Architectural Record, a publication of the McGraw-Hill Companies, in association with the American Architectural Foundation (AAF) presented the Architectural Record Good Design is Good Business Lifetime Achievement Architecture Award to Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, which was accepted by Peter Q. Bohlin, FAIA, Principal at the firm.
