This video is about the WWII Wiener-Neudorf air battle 26 July 1944 with the 15th Air Force, 301st Bomb Group. 11 out of 26 B-17's were shot down. The mission was recalled, but many planes didn't get the transmission over the radio. This is about 2 crews that went down together in a chilling mid-air collision. The survivor report is so horrible, it is not included in this short documentary.
B-17F Pilot 2nd Lt. David Kerr was our cousin through my maternal grandmothers side of the family. His home was in San Antonio, but he was raised in Nashville. He was KIA along with his crew and 10 other planes.
This video is also in a constant state of revision, as new photo's and information are uncovered about the mission. Please let me know if you are connected to any of these brave young airmen.
This video is also on YouTube.
FYI: the target the day before this fatal mission was Linz, Austria, the home town of Adolf Hitler.
