  1. 'Soothing Glimpses of Tokyo'

Video shot during April 2008 in Tokyo.
    (and surrounding areas)

Camera: Canon HV20 using it's Cine Mode.
    Editing Software: Edius Broadcast

I love Japan, this was my 5th time there.
I was there for a month and enjoyed it immensely as always.
I stayed with my awesome Japanese friends!

Tokyo is amazing and I find new places to explore every time I'm there.
There are lovely places to relax and other places that excite the senses!

It's a wonderful mix of it's ancient past & the future the rest of world will see in it's own time.

    Enjoy :)

  2. Headed up to Fujian, China for a family holiday. Brought the 5D2 along for stills mainly but once there, I decided that I should really shoot some video. Being ill-equipped for video (I had a ballhead and a tiny Gitzo), I limited camera movement. Lee and Hitech Nd Grad filters was used for some shots to balance the exposure in the sky. The ND filters by Hitech were also used to bring down the exposure so as to get the optimal shutter speed and shallow DOF.

  3. Shot for a couple months with an assortment of Canon DSLRs and EF lenses. Post production was achieved in Final Cut Pro 6 and Color was used for grading.

  4. This was something that I have longed to do after plunging for the Canon XLH1 more than 2 years ago. A documentary was what I wanted and I needed a showreel to present to funding organisations for support. There are of course plenty more footage but for now, this seems to suffice.

The 5D Mark 2 however is a camera that I may be bringing out more though adapting it for wildlife filmmaking is a totally different thing altogether.

I will be shooting with both systems but the 5D Mark 2 will clearly win handsdown in lowlight situations.

  5. With a big thanks to Canon Singapore, a bunch of cool car photographers, writers and I were flown up to Thailand for the Bangsaen Thailand Speed Festival......with the new 1D Mark IV which BTW is a pre-production unit so there was not many to go around then.

This video was mainly shot with the 5D2 and 7D and was handheld much of the time as I brought a ballhead along this time. Thanks to Image Stabilization, handholding was not that much of a chore and even a 300/2.8 was used for some shots. A Zacuto Z-finder 2 was an important aid for handheld shooting as well. It was as usual, a tough act trying to do both photography and video but that is something I have to live with.

    Lenses used: 16-35 II, 24 TSE, 24-70 L, 70-200 IS L, 300/4 IS L and 300/2.8 IS L.

Thank you very much for viewing.

This is a study abroad video that I made with my narrative concerning the importance of going abroad to better enhance our understanding of one another on a global scale. Along with my narrative, this includes various students from around the world who share their thoughts on what they have gained from studying abroad.
