As co-founder of the Berlin based art and design company Peachbeach, VIDAM and his partner LOOK have been making big noise in Germany for years. In 2011 things got even more interesting when the pair joined up with Nychos, HrVB, and the Low Brows among others to form the mighty Weird Crew and demanded that the rest of the world take notice.
Aside from being a painter, illustrator, designer, and muralist… Vidam somehow finds the time to produce music as well. His steady release of tracks is impressive and big things are sure to come from Vidam in 2014.
Join James and Tom as we learn more about Vidam from the man himself and get an exclusive sneak peak at some of his unreleased tracks on the first episode of Vantage Point.
Buff Diss is a leading name in the street art scene and a pioneer of the relatively new surge of artists using tape as their medium. JB and Tom sit down with him this week and find out how he stumbled across such an unusual medium and was able to make it work so well.
His wildly eclectic mix of tracks that he brought along with him is sure to raise some eyebrows, as will his touching stories of how music and the unpredictable nature of life inspires and drives his art.
Christian Rothenhagen is a master of illustration and the man behind DeerBLN (pronounced ‘Deer Berlin’). With an incredible eye for architecture and the metropolitan spaces in which we live, Rothenhagen produces incredibly detailed and stylized drawings/paintings that masterfully seem to capture the underlying personality of the space they depict.
Listen along as we hear how traveling plays such a large role in Christian’s work and how growing up in Berlin and becoming an artist while your home town turns into one of the leading art capitols of Europe can have it’s ups and downs. As always, we will also take a closer look inside the mind of the artist as he shares some songs that relate to his work and inspire him as he creates.
Episode 004 is a banger with two artists for the price of one. Matthias and Felix Gephart have been making noise in Berlin for years with various projects which span the artistic spectrum from illustration and graphic design to music, photography and murals. The pair got their start in the late 80′s on the streets of their home town of Bochum painting graffiti styles and characters side by side. Nearly 25 years later the brothers hold down individual careers as artists but continue to collaborate as often as possible.
Join JB and Tom in Matthias’s Berlin studio to get inside the heads of these two artists and as always get a taste of the music that inspires them.
As one of the founding members of Melbourne’s Everfresh studio, REKA has put in some serious work over the last 10 years in his native Australia and worldwide. Although he now calls Berlin home, he spends a lot of time traveling and keeping busy. With murals in countless cities, and a growing list of group and solo shows around the globe, these days REKA is in very high demand.
During a rare few days of downtime in his schedule we seized the opportunity and invited him over to JB’s studio for a chat.
Besides bringing a nice and well thought out mix of songs with him, REKA also offered some serious insight into his process and thoughts about what it takes to keep at the front of the mural/gallery circuit.
