Built a gyro-stabilized, quad rotor hovering camera platform. This is my first test using a FlipVideo HD camera. I had some difficulty dampening out the rotor vibrations and you can see some tearing in a few of the scenes. None of the crashes were serious, the ground is nice and soft this time of year
Shot with a Canon T1i at 720p north of Toronto, Canada on Dec.23. That's my step-father skiing.
I Shot it all in a couple of hours, not really knowing what I was doing, then edited it together in iMovie'09--as basic as it gets. All shots were either on a 17-85IS, or a 70-300IS. The really long shots through the snow are at 300mm (with 1.6 multiplier is 480mm). You can see some camera motion in many of the shots even on a static tripod--I realized later that this was due to leaving the lens's image stabilization feature on while on the tripod--it was correcting motion that wasn't really occurring. There are a couple of shots at the end that are really shaky due to me trying to do hand-held pans. A failed experiment. The anti-shake feature in iMovie'09 helped a bit.
