First and foremost, if you're new to the 30 Day Challenge, welcome! The premise of this challenge is to help you condition for the demands of your life by exposing you to fundamental movement patterns and skillfully building upon them over time. This strategy ultimately positions you for ongoing success. The principles adhered to and the concepts you will learn will guide you through this challenge by aiming to keep you moving at your threshold, the fine line between pushing too far and not enough. Over time, you wil start to naturally apply what you're learning here and you will have the tools in your toolbox to maintain a healthy, comfortable and active life. Your primary responsibility is to show up and give it your best. Aside from this, everything else will pretty much fall into place. Additonally, there is no equipment involved or much space required, so this is an anywhere, anytime workout. Plan to chime in on our Facebook page and add to the energy of our community, this challenge is just as much about your community as it is yourself. Enjoy!
It's a great time to ask you a question: Have you been showing up and giving it your best despite my limited engagement this go around? This is really an amazing opportunity for you to become your own solution. While it would seem normal for me to want to keep you under my wing, I want nothing more than for your independence...to know that I've truly positioned you for success. Because the truth of the matter is that most trainers don't have an exit strategy for their clients. Lets use nature as a parallel to this movement-based journey. Mama bird pushes her baby's out of the nest just before they think they're ready. If she doesn't, they'd never spread their wings and fly. They'd continue to rely on mama for their basic needs. Get it?! I'll certainly be back daily in August with an amazingly new challenge and I plan to be around for quite a while but this limited engagement serves as a litmus test that helps you determine if you're ready to spread your wings and fly or wait for someone else to take you under their wing. I wish you all and only the best, be well!
Today we tweak some familiar movement patterns to keep things fun and challenging. Even though the movements are the same, the tweaks will make some of these movements feel "new". This is how we enhance a movement and skill build without abandoning the fundamental movements.
A special shout out to the newbies - what up! This July challenge is mostly self-guided, meaning I am only checking in once per week with a new workout to be done daily. Normally, I'm joining in daily for the challenge. I want to encourage you to find your own personal threshold - the zone where you are challenged, yet successful. The rule of thumb is if quality of movement is diminishing, you modify or reduce the reps. This is a you versus you challenge, meaning you are not comparing yourself to me or others within the challenge. So long as you work to your threshold, you will continue to push the envelope of success.
If anyone has any questions, please post on the forum. See you next week!
I hope everyone is really enjoying their summer. We're just home from a much needed vacation and getting ready to kickoff our August 30 Day Challenge. As usual, we've tweaked the workout to keep you moving right along. Any questions, post on the forum!
