For all you fish nerds. This shrimpgoby was photographed in a very silty bay at the north end of New Britain Island, In Papua New Guinea. I found it unusual for two reasons. One, I had never seen this variety before. And two, it was very large - nearly eight inched in length. I later learned from Dr. Gerry Allen that the fish was known from a couple of earlier sightings but of individuals that were very much smaller. The species has yet to be described.
