These are movie files from a interactive CD-ROM project that I did with my dear friend Dr. Preminda Jacob in 1999 to 2000. The project was a cross-disciplinary experimental ethnography about the film culture of Chennai, located in the southern state of Tamilnadu, India. Not so much about the film industry itself but how cinema plays itself out in urban landscape and the wider political realities of place. As the medium of interactive CD-ROMs has long fallen out of favor both technologically and culturally I have selected the movies which serviced as transitions within the project. I will include a screen capture of one of the interactive sections and additional field video as time allows. It is likely that my old DV tapes have a life span that is coming to an end and I hope to use the channel to post some of that material.
