I was asked to put together this piece for my school's chemistry dept. The incomparable Santiago Echeverry had his phone ready and grabbed additional footage for it. Our actors were great, eager, and ready to get wet. DEC 2013
Samuel is a homeless man living in South Tampa. I wasn't sure what sort of person I'd meet, when I approached him. The man I found turned out to be a whole lot more than I had bargained for. His story is filled with hope, yet full of sadness. He reminds us how much is going on in the world, that we miss. Things are happening right in front of us, but we're too busy in our own lives to be bothered by the trivial musings of a dirty man standing at a corner. He might ask for a spare dollar, offer to sell you a paper, or clean your windshield. What would you say to him? AUG 2013
The video was produced for The Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) in Tampa, for its National Hispanic Scientist of the Year 2013, which honored Dr. Raul Cuero. Using footage shot live at MOSI, along with an interview with Dr. Cuero shot in Columbia, as well earlier footage of him, and stock MOSI video, we compiled this piece the NHSOY gala event. Co-produced by Associate Professor Santiago Echeverry of The University of Tampa. FALL 2013
This piece was produced as part of our COM 333 Studio Television II class in the spring 2014 semester. The class was designed to have small groups produce a series of short news packages. The group members would trade off on responsibilities, but would typically collaborate during the editing process. This particular package features Layla Souchet as the on-screen talent. Thanks also to Ashley James, and Taylor Mock for their contributions on this piece. Spring 2014.
The Ballast Point Park package was another piece from our COM 333 Studio Television II class. This one featured Ashley James as the on-screen talent, as she enjoys the playground and checks out the Taste of Boston restaurant. Thanks to Taylor Mock and Layla Souchet for their hard work off-camera. Both of these pieces were voted into the class best-of reel at the end of the semester. SPRING 2014.
